James Lawson’s First Winter Concert

James+Lawsons+First+Winter+Concert

James Lawson’s first winter concert will be on December 14, and it will be held in the Lawson Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m.

This performance will be directed by choir director Tyler Merideth and band director Zanae Locke with the performing groups being the Chamber Choir, A Cappella Choir, String Ensemble, Orchestra, Concert Band, and Jazz Improv. With this many groups, there will also be a large variety of music and performances.

“I am really excited to have a wide array of music that the students are leaning into that they would have never listened to in their life and will perform well!” says Merideth.

Among the many pieces, one student highlights, “‘Weep, O Mine Eyes’ is my favorite song that we will be performing. It captures both romance and heartbreak very well,” junior Chamber Choir student Belem Nolazco said.

Other students who are performing express their eagerness as well.

“I’m most excited to see the seniors and to see the adults who attend the concert. I’m excited to see our parents witness how much effort we’ve put into the concert.” sophomore Ace Okhunjonova states.

The concert is bound to be a wonderful experience for those who are involved and for those who will watch.

“I’m expecting that memories will be made, older students will assume leadership positions and younger students will be inspired to do better,” Meredith said. “It should be a good crowd!”
