It is the last season for Hillwood softball. The softball team currently stands at 6-5-1 for the current season under Coach Cherae Rice, also a math teacher.

This season has kicked off to a great start with strong sportsmanship and effort.

“I just want better their mental health because I care about them and want them to succeed this season,” Coach Rice said.

The team has been enjoying working together and getting to know each other.

“I would describe Coach Rice as a nice, talented, and helpful coach she is,” said sophomore Izzy Clem.

The last game they did lose against Hume Fogg, but they beat Glencliff 26-2.

“This season is better than last season, and we just need better communication on and off the field. Everything else is going great,” junior Brysonn Jones said.

The team is improving and telling each other what they need to do to improve. They are always cheering each other on.

“We always enjoy practice, and we encourage each other when someone needs help. We help each other and the team bonds,” sophomore Destiny Steele.
