Looking Forward to "Something Rotten"

The Hillwood Players will be performing Something Rotten on February 24th and 25th at 7 pm February at 2 pm and March 3-4 at 7 pm. And March 2 $1.00 for students. Parents, students, and friends will all be able to enjoy the musical.

“The play is a musical set in the 1590s during Shakespeare’s time. The main character is a contemporary writer. The writer wants to be better than Shakespeare. He sees Shakespeare as a competition,” director Ms. Emery said.

The Hillwood players are working hard during music rehearsals and building the set pieces.

“We are building the sets and continuing to prepare for the musical,” Emery said

“Rehearsals are just [the actors] reading through the scripts and sitting in a circle. We’re excited for the comedy between the actors. There will be 18 songs in total for something rotten,” junior London Hunt said.

There are lots of references to Shakespeare’s famous plays. Audiences should prepare for an action-packed and funny show.

“Don’t do the research for the play — just come surprised,” Hunt said.
