Model United Nation’s Last Hillwood Conference

Recently, Hillwood High School participated in the Model United Nations and Youth In Government conference in Murfreesboro on November 11 through the 13th..

Both Model United Nations (MUN) and Youth in Government (YIG) are educational simulation activities for students interested in diplomacy and international relations.

“[MUN] deals with politics, debate, and government…on a state-wide level. We call our spring conference Youth in Government (YIG) where students either act as Tennessee state legislators, press, or members of the court,” YIG president and video director Amber Talley said.

MUN and YIG are both open to all students, even if you have never liked public speaking or gotten into government-related activities.

“YIG has made a huge impact on who I am and what I value, so I’m glad to have experienced something I will hold close to my heart for the rest of my years!” Talley said.

Students shared their positivity by posting pictures on the Hillwood MUN & YIG school instagram account.

“The final MUN for Hillwood, congratulations to our last model nations delegation, it was an amazing time.” @hillwood.mun.yig official instagram account said.

Model United nations picks out developing countries to write about things they want changed or think need fixed

“Students will write a bill, present it, and it could possibly get passed” Sponsor of Model United Nations Alexa Claremont said.

“I would recommend anyone to come and join Model United Nations or Youth In Government, even if you never liked public speaking or getting into government-related activities. You will never know if you like it until you try it,” MUN president Samirakhon Makhkamjonova said.
